Have you ever asked yourself why and how articles make it to the frontpage ? How long it takes, how many Diggs they on average need, the category with the most frontpage appearances and that with the least ?
Enter Social Blade. Social Blade collects statistics about articles that make the Digg frontpage. It displays all kind of useful information that helps understanding the Digg algorithm. Social Blade uses the Digg Api to compute the statistics. The developers state that the results are not perfect but come close enough.
Stories can be sorted by all variables shown and some findings are rather interesting. Some stories appeared on the frontpage after that dreaded 24 hour period. It is widely accepted that Digg makes a cut after 24 hours which means that stories who have not made it in that time will not make it anymore. It referring to being published on the frontpage.
One story appeared on the frontpage after 1 day and 22 hours, another one after 1 day and 14 hours. It is not clear if someone manually pushed them there or if the Digg algorithm does not have that 24 hour limit implemented.
