If webmasters are not doing affiliate marketing but pay per click or cpm they ultimately crave for direct advertisement on their websites and blogs. Direct Advertisement will usually result in increased earnings because they tend to have a much higher effective cpm than any other form of advertisement.
Look at John Chow for instance if you want to know what direct advertisement can do for your earnings. He surely knows how to maximize his blog income. I don’t think it is justified if you look at this traffic stats and consider that most of his visitors are repeat visitors but some advertisers seem to like showing off their brand like those 40+ cpm banners on some high respected websites that are by no means justified, still advertisers do that kind of advertisement a lot.
Back to the topic. The biggest hurdle that most webmasters face is to find advertisers that would consider making a deal with your website. The second big hurdle is the sales letter, the way to sell your site to an advertiser. I will only address a way to find direct advertisers.
A great way to find advertisers is to look at Google Adsense advertisers in your niche. You could of course look at your own ads or the ads of related websites but there is a far easier solution especially if you want to target a market that you are no resident of, remember that people from Germany for instance see German ads which does not help that much if you target the US market.
The online script that I like to use is called the Google Adsense Sandbox. It’s hosted and owned by Digital Inspiration, a fantastic blog. All you need to do is enter a keyword that you are targeting (make money, software, apple iphone) and select a country or leave the auto setting.
A page with 20 Adsense units will be displayed and you can use the displayed url to open the website in question and check for a contact email or other means of contact. Just perform additional searches with slightly different keywords to find more advertisers that you can contact in this matter.
