I have been testing Bidvertiser as a publisher the last week and have to say that the advertiser has lots of potential and that the correct choice of ads can increase the daily earnings. I was not able to generate huge sums with it compared to Google Adsense but if you cant use Google Adsense Bidvertiser is one of the top Adsense alternatives earnings wise.
Bidvertiser does offer the usual ad forms and sizes and additionally a free design ad. This is a pretty unique concept that works pretty well. The normal ad units can be changed in color and style mainly with the usual set of different colors for the title font, text font, the border, body and bar plus the font style which can be bold, italic and underlined.
Blending worked best during my tests and it probably will work great for your website as well. Blending means that you make the ads look like site content and less like ads. This includes using the link color that you use at your site for the ads, the background color, the text color and no borders and bars.
Blended ads normally get a better click through rate than ads that are not blended because users tend to identify ads that stick out in a way that they would not click on them even if the ads would offer relevant content that would be interesting to them.
The problem that I was facing with all of those ads that were offered, mainly the rectangles was that the text Bidvertiser was placed above them which made it impossible to blend those ads in my website. I first tried the half banner ad which, like all horizontal ads, would display the Bidvertiser text below the ads.
This increased the click through rate, not considerably but still it did generate more revenue. Since the half banner would only display one ad it would earn more per click as well because only the highest paying ad would be displayed on my website.
Bidvertiser Free Design Ad:
The free design ad at Bidvertiser is special in several ways. The webmaster can specify the dimensions of the ad unit which means that it is possible to create a perfectly fitting ad unit for your website. The minimum width is 120 pixels and the minimum height is 60.
It is furthermore possible to select the font face and font size for the title and the text which means that the ad unit blends even better for sites that do not use the standard font used by Bidvertiser. (The same is true for Adsense where sites who do not use the standard font used by Adsense for their ad units. Google is actually using different fonts for their ad units, I could write an article about them if you like)
Webmasters can also choose if they want to align the ads vertically or horizontally. This is important because vertical ads place the text Bidvertiser on top of the ad unit while horizontal ads display it at the bottom. The best way is of course to display the text at the bottom which is why webmasters should choose horizontal to optimize their earnings.
The only difficulty that I had with the custom design was that I was not able to create an ad unit that would contain more than one ad. I tried various sizes and the result was only one ad in the ad unit even if the dimensions where that of a large rectangle. If you get this to work let me know please.
Conclusion:
The best ad unit at Bidvertiser to earn money with is the custom ad unit which should be blended to achieve the best possible click through rate. All other ad units that are blended and display the Bidvertiser text at the bottom perform better than those that have the Bidvertiser text on top.
