I’m asking that question in a general sense, not about my blog just to make sure everyone gets my intention. There are three categories of Make Money Online blogs that I would like to classify. This classification explains why your blog is not successful and will probably never be successful unless you change the way you write articles.

The first type is the creme of the crop. Those blogs are in the spotlight, are read by thousands a day. Blogs of this category are Problogger, John Chow, Dosh Dosh and others. That’s a very small percentage of blogs writing about Make Money Online. They have a large followship and publish information before others do, most of the time.

This is because they tend to have contacts in the business, representatives, they do get press releases, requests and the like plus their readers tip them of regularly.

Then we have the second category. Most Make Money Online blogs are in this category. They are not successful, not really at least. They tend to write about things that the big ones have already written about, they tend to use stories from those sites and republish them on their website. Sometimes with a little commentary, sometimes without.

And this is exactly why those blogs are not successful. No one reads just your blog to stay informed. Everyone in the biz reads the big blogs, is subscribed to their RSS feed and knows the news through this channel already. If you just republish the news then no one will be attracted to your blog. Why should they bother to read another Google does this, Yahoo does that type of story ? They already got the facts from the big players.

Which leads to the third kind of blog, those that add a unique aspect to it. They either put the stories in perspective and add unique content to it for example by voicing an opinion or write about aspects that other blogs do not write about. They tend to write unique articles that are well worth the time reading them because you won’t find them anywhere else on the Internet. Exclusive content that is. How to Make Money for Beginners or  Internet Marketing are two blogs that do this very nicely.

But even those two blogs are not widely known among new webmasters. They should be by all means and you will learn more in one of their articles than you learn at John Chow in a month.

Conclusion

If you want to be successful make something unique, something that others don’t do. There is nothing wrong in writing about new affiliate schemes and the like but this is content that can be found anywhere on the Internet. You could for instance add that you are going to test the service for the next month and write about your progress in your blog, that would be valuable to a lot of bloggers out there, don’t you think ?
